DANCE CAMP!!!!

Well, I just got home from day two of Dance Camp at Resurrection Lutheran. I had SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun today! This years theme is "The Fragrances of the King" from 2Corinthians 2:14-16, There are 7 fragrances of the king:
Myrrh(Es. 2:12,Ps.45:8,Song1:13,Matt2:11),
Frankincense(Ex30:34-35,Song3:6,Matt2:11),
Aloes(Ps45:8),
Cassia(Ps45:8),
Cedar of Lebanon(Ps92:12,Song4:11),
Henna(Song1:14,Ps51:17), and
Spikenard(Song1:12,Song4:13-14,Matt26:1-16,Mk14:3,Jn12:2-3)

Anyway I took three classes today:
Beginning Modern - Yvonne Peters
Dancing with Understanding - Carl Peters and Stephanie Hall
Prophetic Dance:How Can I tell? - Yvonne Peters and Daryse Osborne

modern class was very cool, I didn't think I'd done much modern before but I realized that half of what I'm taught at Abiding Worship IS modern. So we learned how to roll and do this amazing triplet combination across the floor along with tendues.

Dancing with Understanding was really neat. I learned the first six letters of the Hebrew alphabet...we concentrated on Aleph(pronounced like olive)and Beth(pronounced BAIT) and we learned that Aleph means Ox which is a messianic animal or an animal of sacrifice...and the character Aleph looks like God and man in God's image with a line separating the two...the division of heaven and earth and sin that separates us...so we got to dance Aleph which was very cool. and Beth means house with an open door on the left side...Jeremiah 1:14...talking about danger from the north.

Prophetic Dance was the most interesting of all for me. I learned that word Selah in the bible is a musical interlude or swell that is used as a time to meditate on what was said. So basically someone would read aloud a Psalm and then pause and the music would play what they just heard...paint a picture with music. "Dance is not worship, dance is an expression of worship...all worship is WORD based."
Spontaneous is voluntary-unpremeditated-natural (dancing in tongues or edifying self and man)
Prophetic is a divinely inspired utterance - running conversations (prophesy in movement - edifying God) it is prophetic if it edifies, exhorts or consoles...to take the body of Christ to a higher level of spiritual understanding. For instance if you have a word of tongues but there is no interpretation then it's not prophetic...its just for God. To make it prophetic...it must be understood by more than the dancer. 1 Cor 14:1-4, 1Cron 25:1-7, 1 Cor 14:37, Psalm 61:1-4

SOOO...that was day ONE of dance camp :) Tomorrow is Ballet and Dancing with Intention. Oh yeah, we also did a whole group dance which was cool. We'll do that again tomorrow...anyway I'm wiped out so I'm going to veg the rest of the night!
