thoughts and the icon of the week

Saturday night at youth group we sang two really amazing songs. He is Exalted and Give us Clean Hands And they really got me thinking.

He is exalted the King is exalted on High
I will praise You
He is exalted forever exalted
And I will praise His name

He is the Lord
Forever His truth shall reign
Heaven and Earth
Rejoice in His holy name
He is exalted the King is exalted on high
(by Twila Paris)

It's a really old song that we used to sing all the time when I was little. But just the thought that both Heaven and Earth are rejoicing together about one common purpose, one common name...wow.
Then we sang "Give us clean hands" talk about a powerful song...

We bow our hearts
We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes
From evil things
Oh Lord we cast down our idols

So give us clean hands
and give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Oh give us clean hands
and give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Oh God let this be
a generation that seeks
Who seeks Your face, Oh God of Jacob
Oh God let us be
a generation that seeks
Who seeks Your face, Oh God of Jacob
(by Chris Tomlin)

The words "Oh God let us be, a generation that seeks, who seeks your face, oh God of Jacob" really hit me. We want to be a generation who seeks his face. I want to seek his face...and its hard because there's this thing called LIFE that makes it hard. But that's where The Rebelution's idea "DO HARD THINGS" comes into play.

The Rebelution is about being the change in our generation. Waking people up so they realize they were created for something more. Going out of our comfort zone to make sure that the Gospel has an impact and wanting to do whatever we need to do to share what God has done for us. It's telling people that we, as a generation are not all the same and cannot be defined as "teenagers" as if it were a bad thing. We are young adults who have strong foundations, know what we believe and want to take a stand. We want to make sure the world knows that we are different. We are non-conformists and we want to share God with everyone.

So there's my 2 cents worth for today...

I almost forgot...the icon of the week
