In the Moment

Heard this on the way home from church today...kinda put me in the moment...made me think of just what all happened and what was going through Mary and Joseph's minds...pretty cool song... (A Strange Way to Save the World)

I’m sure he must have been surprised
At where this road had taken him
Cause never in a million lives
Would he have dreamed of Bethlehem

And standing at the manger
He saw with his own eyes
The message from the angel come to life
And Joseph said

Why me, I’m just a simple man of trade
Why Him with all the rulers in the world
Why here inside this stable filled with hay
Why her, she’s just an ordinary girl
Now I’m not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the
World

To think of how it could have been
If Jesus had come as He deserved
There would have been no Bethlehem
No lowly shepherds at His birth

But Joseph knew the
Reason love had to reach so far
And as he held the Savior in his arms
He must have thought

Why me, I’m just a simple man of trade
Why Him with all the rulers in the world
Why here inside this stable filled with hay
Why her, she’s just an ordinary girl
Now I’m not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange way to save the
World

Now, I’m not one to second guess
What angels have to say
But this is such a strange
Way to save the world
Such a strange way, this is
Such a strange way
A strange way to save the world
A strange way to save the world

and then that song reminded me of "Mary Did You Know?" by Mark Lowry...

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

i love both of these songs...they aren't the usual Christmas songs, but they still contain a powerful message and provoke (at least in myself) a lot of thought...it's so important that the true meaning of Christmas is kept our focal point even in the craziness of the season, the commercialism, and everything else that goes on. Christ's birth is so important, and I think it's something to think on...Mary and Joseph were two ordinary people...young people...like us...and God chose them to be a part of his plan, a part of something great. We were also chosen to be a part of his plan...and maybe right now, whatever your circumstance, it doesn't seem as awesome as being chosen to carry the Savior of the world...but maybe to someone, it is...every word, every action...it could all bring the reality and true meaning of Christmas to someone who never understood before...
