Breathe...

So yeah, C4 was absolutely incredible on Sunday. Tyson once again did an incredible job bringing the word to us. God was in that place on Sunday...you could feel it...it was amazing.
The message was called Culture Shock. Our culture is changing by the moment, and not for the better. Tyson illustrated this by playing for us the Number 1 song in America on Feb 20, 1961, and the Number 1 song in America on Feb 20, 2011. It was a shocking difference...Lawrence Welk - Calcutta vs. Lady Gaga - Born This Way. Ephesians 6:12 says: "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
The world tries to capture us and send us these little messages trying to distract us and tempt us until we let the world take over us. We're getting these messages from everywhere, all the time! Movies, TV, Music, People, Work, School...everywhere! Tyson read from Acts 16: 16-18 about the girl who was possessed with the spirit of divination. In the Greek, the spirit of divination is called the spirit of Python. The world is like a Python...it constricts us and steals our breath. Tyson asked us "Do you feel like worshiping God after living a sinful lifestyle?" No, you really don't...because the world constricted you...when you mess with the world, it messes with you.
Genesis 2:7 says: "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."
Tyson defined breathe as "Giving up what is inside of you." Then he said something that rocked my world..."The same God that breathed Heaven into existence breathed that same breathe into you!" That definition really gave me a new perspective on life. We are called to be culture changers...but changing the culture begins inside of you...inside of me...changing the culture doesn't happen on its own. Every time that you influence someone else's life for God, every time you speak life into a dead situation or a struggling person, their life has been restored because you gave up what is inside of yourself. We are created for SO much more than this world!
God really moved in my heart on Sunday night...I came out feeling like I could change the world...knowing that it starts in my own life...and it's only done one life at a time...I am so hungry for more, I cannot wait until Sunday night. God is at work, he's moving, and he's changing lives...I am so excited to see what he's gonna do. (and if you have not been to C4...you need to come...)
