Be the change...

Thursday night, Chris Claud did a great job at C4 Charlotte's Mid-Week Service. He asked us to consider: Is the world changing you...or are you changing the world?
Romans 12:1-8 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

So often we think that we decide what is good and acceptable and perfect...but we can't do that until we enter into a relationship with him...and He will guide us then to what his will is. If we are real with ourselves...are you allowing God to use you? When you enter a room is the room different because you are there? The Holy Spirit makes it different...he makes you different. When you enter a room, everyone should know who you are...not because of your fame, but because of His. God wants to use us...he gave us gifts and he wants us to use them to accomplish his will. So often we try to use excuses..."I can't...I'm too busy...I've got school or work" - but we are called. If you don't obey God then who will? In that moment, you are the only one there...you must take a step and follow his will for your life. We make ourselves the priority of our day...We go about our lives, only concerned with ourselves. "What am I going to do today, What do I want to eat" rather than living our lives for God and what he wants to accomplish through us.

God has worked in us all in miraculous ways...we are all here for a reason. We are called to support and enable others. As the body of Christ...the bride...we are to support one another in ministry and life. We were not meant to walk this life alone. We are called to give of ourselves...less of us, more of Him. Don't hold back. When you express a passion and a desire for Christ, it will spread like a wildfire...be bold and courageous. Walk forward and fashion your ministry out of love. We are called to love as God loves us...that includes his creation...including that person that you don't like...or that bully from school...or that strange girl who wears weird clothes...How can you love God if you don't love his creation? God cleansed you...and by letting him use you, he will make others new.
Philippians 1:21 says For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
In saying this, Paul meant that even though to die means that he'd be with Christ and that is his desire, he would rather stay on earth...because it is great to do God's work. Paul wrote those words from inside of a prison cell. If Paul continues to stand and do God's work from prison, then there is no reason on this earth that should prevent me from taking a stand and changing the world.

As Chris finished up, Tyson jumped up and ended up tag-teaming with Chris' message. He said that something really stuck out to him and it was this...that either we are changing the world or the world is changing us - there is no middle ground, it's one or the other.

We cannot afford to conform, we have to declare through our lives that the Holy Spirit lives in us. We have to be transformers not conformers because we were not created to blend in. Even on days when we don't feel like standing up or we've had a really stressful or hard day...no matter what, God is still worthy of our praise. Don't let fear hold you back...remember whose you are. In those moments when you aren't feeling it...don't back down, just worship. When you worship, his spirit flows out of you and your act of worship will not go unnoticed. You are a world changer. If you stand with zeal and boldness, God will meet you where you are...and the world won't be able to touch you...
