Sunday, I visited Elevation Church (Blakeney) for the first time. It was the launch day for 2 new campuses in Rock Hill and University. It's really cool to see so many people worshipping God.
Anyway, Pastor Steven Furtick taught a message called Prodigy Prerequisites. Our generation must take a stand and prepare ourselves because one day we will have to train up the next generation. We are building and rebuilding great things for God.
Nehemiah 6:15-16 So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty-two days. And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.
This scripture is significant because it took them only 52 days to build a wall...something that should have taken that many weeks. Don't think small about your life when God has called you to great things! When people look at our lives (just as they looked at that wall) they should only come to the conclusion that it has to be God at work. Just because you're young or no one else has the vision that you do...that shouldn't stop you or tell you that you can't do it.

When you think about what God has called you to...see if you can answer these 4 questions.
  • Will you embrace your misery and make it your ministry?
    • The two go hand in hand, Proverbs 14:4 says Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox. - meaning that if there is nothing troubling your heart, then you have no ministry. If there is nothing that weighs upon your heart...nothing that stirs you into action, then you won't take action.
      • Nehemiah 1:1-11 is an excellent example of how to take your misery and make it your ministry.
    • What is the misery inside of you that God wants to turn into your ministry?
      • Whatever the trouble in your life, it's a clue to the solution of how God wants to use you.
      • What makes you miserable? What pains your heart?
    • Are you brokenhearted to see a world in need of God?
    • Shake the culture, touch the world
  • Will you exchange your comfort for your calling?
    • Nehemiah 2:1-8
    • Take the risk and make a move...
    • Courage is when you feel the fear, and you do it anyway.
    • The King of kings presides over your life and asks what you want. Build for God. Be Bold.
    • Are you more concerned with your comfort or your calling? You aren't necessarily dealing with life or death, but you're dealing with complacency and mediocrity.
    • Leave a dent in the world showing that God is in your life.
    • Take up your cross and follow him.
  • Will you put the wrong ones out and let the right ones in? (talking about people)
    • Make a decision to let the right people influence you
    • You have to have the right voices to make the right choices
    • Nehemiah 2:11-20 - a few a small group
      • You can predict the direction of your life by looking at the 5 people closest to you.
    • You may have to put people out of your life
      • That's not saying you don't love them, but you're drawing a line and saying who is going to influence you.
      • I can't hang with you anymore
      • Love the sinner, hate the sin
    • Surround yourself by the right a part of the church
  • Will you take your stand against the enemies of your God?
    • When you are a Christian, there are things you should never cheer for. (sin, compromise, injustice, the devil)
    • Nehemiah 6:1-3
    • If you are going through "hell" in your life, that means you must be close to what God has for you.
    • Temptations will try to call you away from "the wall" (your calling) but don't come down for just any passing's not worth it.
Take up your cross and follow God...follow him to where he wants you to be. You are called to great things, so don't put limits on what God can do with you.
